Decisions, Decisions
And we are NOT talking about a biological clock. Rather, the one that adorns your wrist in an understated or outlandish fashion. Is it time for a new watch or a watch in general? How do you know? Once you decide that you are in need of a new watch, what do you look for? What makes a good watch, depends on your need. However, depending on the price tag, the functionality of a watch should be paramount. Outside of telling you the time, other functions you need and want out of your watch should be considered. Even the manner in which it tells the time counts: analog or digital, hour and minute, or down to the second. Your desired end state will inform what makes a good watch for you.
Design and Function
If fashion is the primary desire, then a sleek design with minute details such as gold markers for the hour on an analog face could do the trick. For example, see this hugo boss watch. The crown would be small and elegant. Or to make a statement the crown could be large and bold in color to contrast the case of the watch. The bezel could be encrusted in diamonds upping the luxury factor. If you are an athletic or generally active person, features like monitoring biometrics, alarm options, and START and STOP timing capabilities may be important. Is it waterproof? What is the strap length, is it customizable? The more active you are the more additional options in the watch matter, and you will want to consider the movement. Movement is the watch’s engine or, what powers it. So, is it battery-operated, solar, or a hybrid of the two?
A Packaged Deal
Whether the ultimate goal is to accent an alluring ensemble for an event or to have your watch become a discussion piece to help secure that account or interview; materials matter. Regardless of wanting the watch to give you a more prestigious look, or for use to train or just for practicality at the very least stainless steel should be a benchmark material. This makes the watch impervious to moisture and perspiration to a minimal extent. Likewise, allergic reactions to stainless steel are few and far between. Other aspects such as the type of crystal that covers the face of the watch and if it is scratch-proof, polarized, etc. can be both functional and aesthetic. So, now that you’re in the market for a new timepiece set your price point and look for watches with features that meet your desired end goal. Do that, and you are guaranteed to select a good watch.
